The only major difference I can think of is that, as spandex is a knit material, you should take extra care that your cup pattern pieces are lined up on the fabric in exactly the same way. This is because knit fabrics have more stretch in some directions than others, and you don't want one cup to have more sideways stretch and the other more vertical stretch!
You might also want to use some fusible interfacing inside the front band, to keep it lying firm and flat against your ribcage.

This looks great! But I have a really important question! I love this pattern, and I wanted to make a bikini top out of it. How would things be different if I wanted to make a bikini top out of spandex? Please answer, because this is beautiful and I would love to use it for my bathing suit pattern!

I'm really confused. You say "To figure out the width at the base, we divide the stitch count by pi and double it, to get the diameter."

But,C = pi x D
So when you divide the circumference by pi, you get the diameter. So you woudln't need to double it.

Please explain?

I'm not really a newbie but I did come across some new stuff in this pattern. I was tempted to just substitute other stitches I already knew (thumb method and M1) but I followed it exactly as written and I feel more accomplished now. The decreases I already know but thanks for the easy to follow guide on the backward loop cast on and kfb.
